If I could live anywhere, it would be: 1

Vancouver SkylineDay 22 in the 30-day challenge, and I’m catching up again — just because, you know, we just had to go and spend Labour Day weekend on Vancouver Island. If you’d like to know what my favorite spot is for Labour DAy camping, just ask 🙂

Vancouver, BC

– which happens to be where I live.

No, that isn’t just pure luck, it was a conscious decision. I sat down with a blank page, and drew my ideal life in ten years. Out came lots of mountains, water, tents, campfires, kayaks, backpacks — and somehow, it was just 100% clear to me, that Paris wasn’t my ideal place to live with regards to these dreams.

Don’t get me wrong: I love Paris, and still think it is one of the most amazing and beautiful cities of the world, with an amazing bridge between tradition, arts, industrial advances, and of course the Eiffel tower, more visited than Niagara falls. Which sadly also makes the city and the tower one of the number one targets of terrorists. Ooops, off topic here.

Having made the move over three years ago, I am happy with my choice. It wasn’t easy to move here, took lots of planning, preparation and patience (the three Ps of international moving). It is a good fit for our family. With regards to my professional life, things are changing right now, with me building up my own business — and I hope to not only build a thriving business, but also come to the geographical flexibility allowing me to take my business on the road for several months a year to spend in Europe with family and friends there, and possibly to somewhere less rainy and grey in the winter 🙂

I love that you were so deliberate about your decision to move. Sitting down with a blank page and drawing your ideal life is a great idea. I’m at that stage now – its exciting and pretty scary!
